Ray Smith is the owner of Smith’s Great Outdoors. He enjoys hunting a variety of species including white tail deer, elk, turkey, rabbit, duck, geese, and coyote. Trapping is a hobby he has enjoyed for many years. Shooting has been a skill and challenge he has enjoyed with friends and family since his childhood. He was NYS junior sporting league champion and has continued to win state sporting clay and trap titles. Ray is interested in helping youth experience the joys of hunting, fishing, and trapping. He looks forward to helping the Elba Conservation Club with any needs they may have as his son, Brayden has just joined. Supporting the Wounded Warriors with hunting needs has been rewarding for Ray. He has been a member of the Oakfield Rod & Gun Club for decades. He is looking to expand the business and offer a variety of services for the outdoorsman.
Wayne Meritt is one of the foremost archery technicians in the New York area. Boasting over 30 years experience in the trade he has worked on almost all major brands and certified in many. Having worked in some of the best shops in the area throughout his career he has gained a vast knowledge of firearms, ammunition, related equipment and whitetail deer behavior as well. Also a avid sportsman, Wayne is also an instinctive longbow shooter. His hunting interests include whitetails, turkey, birds both upland and waterfowl. It is his desire to share his knowledge and expertise and produce a quality product to help our customers be even more successful.
Dalton Carlsen has grown up in and knows his way around the outdoors, whether it be hunting, trapping or fishing. Dalton spends time chasing deer, turkey, fox, coyote, and many other various small game species. When the hunting seasons close for the year, you can always find Dalton on a lake, pond or stream in chase of trout, pike, or his favorite species, Largemouth and smallmouth bass. He competes in fishing tournaments throughout western New York during the summer and fall months. Dalton loves to share his knowledge of bass fishing with anyone who will listen. He has a growing passion for archery as well.
We would like to congratulate Paul Grefrath on his retirement. Although you may still see him in the store from time to time. He has been an avid sportsman his entire life. He is a professional dog trainer specializing in sporting dogs and gun training. Paul’s work with dogs has led him to judging dog trials for over 18 years. As a young man he was a competitive rifle shooter and enjoys shooting sporting clays, trap and skeet. His hunting passion has lead him across the United States bird hunting dogs both upland and waterfowl. Paul has also hunted whitetail, pronghorn, and elk with a bow and gun.
